Bicolour Tourmaline from Afghanistan 16.57 Carats Untreated Cushion

Natural tourmaline from Afghanistan of 16.57 carats, cut as a cushion (double-brilliant crown, step-cut pavilion). The laboratory describes its colour as green & white in daylight: a green zone and a white to colourless zone coexist within the same crystal, a direct record of its growth history.

This colour zoning is a natural phenomenon: it appears when the chemistry of the environment changes during crystallisation. It cannot be reproduced by treatment, and bringing it out depends entirely on the orientation chosen by the lapidary at the time of cutting.

At 16.57 carats for 13.65 mm in length and a generous depth (11.70 mm), it offers considerable volume and real presence. It comes with its GFCO Gem Lab certificate (Switzerland) with origin determination Afghanistan.
