Transparency is at the heart of our work as gemstone dealers. Here is how the certification of our stones works, in full clarity.

Laboratory-certified stones

Our important stones come with a certificate from an independent laboratory, presented before purchase and delivered with the stone. The issuing laboratory is indicated on each relevant product page.

Lower-value stones: our complimentary certificate

For lower-value stones, a laboratory analysis would represent a disproportionate cost relative to the price of the stone — they are therefore not systematically certified. On request, we issue free of charge a Maxime Voillot Gems certificate of authenticity: species and variety, weight, dimensions, observed treatment. This document engages our responsibility as specialised dealers; it does not replace an independent laboratory report, and we tell you so in full transparency.

An independent laboratory report, for every stone

Would you like a report issued by an independent laboratory, or a second opinion? For all our stones, whatever their price, we can arrange a gemmological analysis report, quoted on request, from one of the following laboratories:

Laboratoire Français de Gemmologie (LFG)

The reference laboratory in France, based in Paris. Species identification, treatment detection and, depending on the stone, origin determination.

GRS – GemResearch Swisslab

The international reference for coloured stones, particularly renowned for its origin determinations (Burma, Kashmir, Sri Lanka…) and its colour designations. It is the laboratory of choice for collectors and the international market.

Bellerophon Gemlab

An independent Paris laboratory specialising in coloured stones, valued by French jewellery houses for the rigour of its analyses.

What a laboratory report attests — and what it does not

A gemmological analysis report identifies the nature of the stone (species and variety), the absence or presence of treatments and, where possible, its geographic origin. It does not constitute an appraisal of market value. That is precisely what makes it an objective and reliable document.

Practical details

Cost and turnaround depend on the chosen laboratory, the type of report and the stone. We provide a precise quote before any shipment — the stone is sent to the laboratory securely and fully insured. The request can be made before or after your purchase.
