Natural rubellite from Afghanistan weighing 9.72 carats, fashioned as a square cushion (brilliant crown, step pavilion). Rubellite is the pink to red variety of tourmaline; the Afghan deposits produce crystals of remarkable saturation, here described as vivid purplish-pink by the laboratory.

The stone has undergone no treatment whatsoever: neither heating nor fracture filling. A point worth underlining on this variety, where heating and oiling are frequent and rarely disclosed. It comes with its GFCO Gem Lab (Switzerland) certificate, with an Afghanistan origin determination.
