Pinkish-Orange Spinel from Mahenge 6.10 Carats Unheated Antique Cushion

Natural pinkish-orange spinel from Mahenge (Tanzania) weighing 6.10 carats, fashioned as an antique cushion (modified brilliant crown, modified step pavilion). The Mahenge region, revealed in 2007 by the discovery of enormous spinel crystals, today produces some of the most sought-after spinels on the market.

Its colour — “pink-orange” according to GRS, “reddish pink” with intense saturation according to Lotus Gemology — is entirely natural: the stone has undergone no thermal treatment, as confirmed by its two certificates, both with a Tanzania origin determination. GRS has furthermore awarded it the “vibrant” brilliancy designation (see certificate appendix), reserved for gemstones cut to their optimal proportions for a maximised colour-reflection pattern.
