California Couple Finds a 4.38-Carat Yellow Diamond at Arkansas's Crater of Diamonds State Park

Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas is known as a place where visitors can search for — and keep — natural diamonds. Noreen Wredberg and her husband Michael, a couple from California, decided to visit the park for fun during a trip near Hot Springs National Park. Conditions were ideal for diamond hunting on the day of their visit: it had rained over the previous days and the sun had come out. In less than an hour, Noreen discovered a magnificent 4.38-carat yellow diamond.

This yellow diamond is the largest found at the park since Labor Day 2020, when a man from Arkansas discovered a 9.07-carat diamond. The park allows visitors to keep what they find, and more than 75,000 diamonds have been discovered there since 1906. Weather conditions can sometimes make diamond hunting easier, uncovering larger diamonds that were previously buried in the ground.
